Robert Purchas

Robert was the founding Director of the firm when it was established in April 2008. Robert started his working life at the Inland Revenue Department where he rose to the rank of Inspector while studying for a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at University of Canterbury. After completing his degree he started a career in chartered accounting initially as an auditor but then soon discovered that the business and taxation services side of public practice was much more to his liking. 

Robert became a partner in a national firm of accountants in 1987 until a merger with a prominent South Island firm in 2000. He remained a partner in that firm until the establishment of Robert Purchas & Associates in 2008.

In his more than 30 years in public practice Robert has acquired a broad range of expertise and experience as is demonstrated by the range of services now offered by the firm. His client portfolio includes a diverse range of clients both in size and industry type and he retains an active interest in business valuation matters.

Robert has a wide range of interests outside accounting including slaving on his "life-style" block, ogling expensive cars and a wide range of sporting interests and endeavours.

He is involved in the local community by way of being the honorary Treasurer for the Weedons Golf Club and the Hornby Day Care Trust.
